Testing Flex

I tested the new Flex PE14-2 150 rotary polisher I got for christmas. Pretty sweet.

I had already gone through the S2 with a cheapo polisher earlier so I only did the bonnet this time. I also laid down Bilt-Hamber Cleanser-Polish and Finish-Wax.

The rear wheels look a bit wimpy with the winter tires. That's beacuse the car is sitting on 4 front tires - the original owner had only specced the "full" D90 wheel set for the summer tires, which has 1 inch wider rear wheels. This was undoubtably so that they could use the same size tires in the front and rear and save some money. There might also have been a pretty short supply of really wide low profile studded winter tires on sale in 1990....

Also a fun factoid about the rear bumber, which is a US spec (for those who are into this sort of detail); the last 944S2s brought to Finland and Sweden had a sort of a hybrid configuration - they had the US spec safety bumpers with the shock absorbers in the front and rear, but didn't have the side lights or other US items. This apparently was so that they would get some sort of tax reduction because of the added safety features. Which is nice, since the new car tax in Finland is about half of the car's price. Which means that cars cost about twice as much here as anywhere else in the world... (well not really anymore, but they used to when the S2 was new)
