About the Porsche

The Porsche 944 S2 - introduced in 1989 and built until 1991 - is the last iteration of the 944 model series and the second to last in the four cylinder front engine line before the 968.

Powered by a naturally aspirated 16 valve 3.0 liter DOHC engine producing around 211bhp and a five speed manual gearbox with optional limited slip differential (automatic was also an option) the performance is pretty good. The 944 Turbo S was the even faster sister model sold at the same time, featuring a 8v SOHC construction.

The S2 had many of the original 944 optional features as standard, such as central locking, power steering and electric windows, mirrors and targa top. A cabriolet model built in the US was also offered for the first time the 944's history.

My car is a 1990 model originally sold in Finland and has the following options:
058 FRONT AND REAR BUMPER SHOCKS
139 SEAT HEATING SYSTEM LEFT SEAT
220 LOCKING DIFF 40 %
288 HEAD LIGHT WASHERS
424 AUTOMATIC HEATING CONRTOL
437 COMFORT SEAT LEFT ELECTRIC ADJUSTABLE
438 COMFORT SEAT RIGHT ELECTRIC ADJUSTABLE
494 Amplifier System
494 2 speakers on back shelf
533 ANTI THEFT DEVICE
593 BOSCH ANTI LOCK - ABS SYSTEM
605 HEAD LIGHT AIM CONTROL
650 REMOVEABLE SUN ROOF

The car has about 305000 kilometers (around 190000 miles) on the clock and just passed it's yearly inspection with flying colours. Only 3 previous owners and a very good service history. I intend to keep it that way.

Aside from the factory options the car has had the following installed:
Rostra cruise control system
Koni adjustable shocks and springs all around
A "sound system" - this is something that will be featured in the blog more; meaning that it will be upgraded SOON ;)
Remote control for the factory alarm system and central locking with a modern Porsche style keyfob
